Four Republican Senators Write Letter Criticizing Facebook Over Censorship of Pro-Life Content

On September 11, four U.S. Republican senators sent a letter to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, criticizing the social media bias against certain conservative views. At the end of August, Facebook had notified a pro-life organization, Live Action, that two of their videos had been given a “false” rating by Facebook’s fact-checkers. Senators, Josh Hawley (Mo.), Ted Cruz (Tx.), Kevin Cramer (N.D.), and Mike Braun (Ind.) all stood up together to discourage Facebooks “pattern of censorship” as well as calling on them to submit an external audit.

Fact-Checking

In August Live Action’s President, Lila Rose appeared in a video on Facebook, another Live Action video featured Dr. Kendra Kolb, a board-certified neonatologist; both of these videos included claims that abortion is not medically necessary. Both of these videos got labeled “false” by Facebooks fact-checkers. Facebook then prevented Rose and Live Action from promoting or advertising on their platform, as well as notifying anyone who shared the two videos that they had spread “false news.”

However, the senators pointed out in their letter of rebuke that Facebooks “independent fact check” was conducted by two abortion providers. Both Daniel Grossman, who is on the board of NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation, and Robyn Shickler, a fellow with Physicians for Reproductive Health, have ties to abortion-rights activists groups.

“No reasonable person would describe Grossman or Shickler as neutral or objective when it comes to the issue of abortion,” the letter states, “yet Facebook relied on their rating to suppress and censor a pro-life organization with more than 3 million followers.” The letter refers to this as a violation of “Facebook’s supposed commitment to non-partisanship.”

The senators also point out that this isn’t the first time biased fact checks have happened before. Evidence of “bias against those with conservative viewpoints, especially on the issue of abortion,” has been repeatedly found on social media sites- not just Facebook but also at Twitter, Google, and Pinterest. “You have repeatedly insisted that these numerous instances of discrimination, censorship, and suppression of speech are merely glitches, not evidence of systemic bias.”

Third-Party Work

On Wednesday evening the International Fact-Checking Network, the unit of the Poynter Institute which provides fact-checking assistance to Facebook released a statement responding to the senator’s letter.

“Posts by Live Action and Lila Rose were fact-checked by a third party, independently certified by the International Fact-Checking Network. We have been in touch with the IFCN which has opened an investigation to determine whether the fact checkers who rated this content did so by following procedures designed to ensure impartiality. While the IFCN investigates, we are removing the relevant fact checks and have communicated this to the members of the US Senate who brought this specific concern to our attention.” [1]

California University Begins Pushing Normalizing Pedophilia on Students

How far is too far? In the past hundred years (predominantly) social justice warriors have worked to fight for things that aren’t right and normalize things that aren’t normal. This doesn’t show signs of stopping any time soon, with their most recent effort or normalizing pedophilia entering mainstream media. On Thursday, a California student, Alex Mazzara, tweeted about a discussion they had in class at his state university, which debated the topic of whether or not pedophilia was a “sexual orientation.”

LGBTQ…P?

California likes to remain two steps in front of the rest of the country, whether it’s about promoting recycling or legalizing gay marriage, California did it first. Now, California is doing it again, according to Mazzara, a student in San Diego, California state universities are now introducing pedophilia as a sexual orientation. “An actual topic we discussed in class today at a State University after watching an 8 minute Vice News video showcasing self-identified pedophiles. This is going to be mainstreamed,” tweeted Mazzara.

The class allegedly watched an eight-minute video which featured “self-identified pedophiles,” after the video the class then began discussing pedophilia as a sexual orientation, like that of LGBTQ.

Mazzara continued, tweeting what other students in class thought about pedophilia after the video. “Some people agreed that it was a sexual orientation because they “were born that way and can’t help it” others disagreed only because they feared that labeling pedophilia a sexual orientation would harm gays and lesbians because they would then be on the same level.”

The Emperor has no Clothes

Pedophilia isn’t a new thing, even pedophilia becoming mainstream isn’t new. Over the past several years the media has been working to soften people’s opinions on pedophilia through places like news articles on Salon.com- which disappeared not long after being published [1]– on BBC, and on VICE which published pictures of boys dressed up as drag queens next to nude adult men on Twitter- with no reaction from the public.

Now that LGBTQ is mainstream and almost considered normal, media and schools have begun to push for pedophilia as a sexual orientation as well. When pedophiles become normal, then pedophiles get defended because it’s their sexual orientation and no longer a psychiatric disorder.

People need to stop trying not to offend anyone and actually say what we’re all thinking. The Emperor has no clothes! These people are sick; it’s not just a sexual preference; it’s not something to be ignored. It’s something that, if left alone, will continue to grow and grow, until rapists and serial killers are defended because it’s not wrong, it’s just their sexual orientation.

Kansas City Chiefs Beat Oakland Raiders 28-10 on Sunday

It’s week two of the NFL season, and the Kansas City Chiefs have had another great game, scoring another win against the Oakland Raiders. The game was held at the Raiders stadium in Oakland, California. The final score was 28-10. This is the last time the Chiefs and Raiders will meet up on a dirt/grass football field this year. The next time they meet up, it will be at Arrowhead Stadium. And in 2020 the Raiders are moving to Las Vegas with a new stadium.

Winning this game gives the Chiefs a 2-0 game score and another shot at the Superbowl.

A bad Beginning

It was a bad start for the Chiefs. They made no points at all in the first quarter, the Raiders, however, scored 10 points. They made one touchdown, which was the only one they made the entire game, and a three-point field goal. These were the only points they made during the whole game. In the second quarter, the Chiefs made a comeback, scoring a total of 28 points. Four touchdowns and four one-point field goals. The Chiefs made two touchdowns in one minute. At halftime, the score was 28-10, with the Chiefs in the lead. Both teams remained unmoving during the second half of the game, with neither of them scoring any more points.

A Great Finish

Both star quarterbacks started for each team without any injuries. Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs QB, completed 30 of 44, threw for 443 yards, threw for four touchdowns, and had one rush for -1 yard. During the game, Mahomes looked to be fine concerning his ankle, which he had hurt in last weeks game.

During this game Mahomes broke yet another NFL record. He now holds the new record for the most consecutive on-the-road games with three or more touchdown passes. He’s thrown for three or more touchdown passes for seven successive road games going back to his 2018 MVP season. He even passed Patriots QB Tom Brady who had 6.

Patrick Mahomes threw to three different receivers for the four touchdowns. Demarcus Robinson caught two of the touchdowns; Mecole Hardman and Travis Kelce caught the other two.

Raiders quarterback, Derek Carr, completed 23 of 38, threw for 198 yards, threw for one touchdown, threw for two interceptions, and also had two rushes for 18 yards. The receiver that caught the only touchdown for the Raiders was Tyrell William.

In the next game, the Chiefs are going up against the Baltimore Ravens on September 22, 2019. This will take place at noon Central Time. The game will be held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Missouri Governor Mike Parson Announces Bid for Re-Election in 2020

In 2018 Missouri unexpectedly switched governors from Eric Greitens to 63-year-old Mike Parson. It’s been almost two years since Parson became governor and on Sunday he announced that he plans on seeking a full term. He’ll be facing Auditor Nicole Galloway, the only female Democrat holding a statewide office at this time.

Governor Parson

A retired policeman, a rancher, a father of six children, Parson first announced his bid for Missouri Governor four years ago but quickly dropped out, claiming that he didn’t want his message to get lost in the loud Republican field- which at the time Greitens was part of. Parson ran and won the position of Lieutenant Governor instead. Until 2018 when Governor Greitens resigned from office after accusations of campaign finance violations and sexual misconduct and was facing threats of impeachment.

Since then, Parson has been leading Missouri, using his low-key methods and farm boy personality to get along with almost everyone who crosses his path. With his 14 plus years of experience in government, as a representative, senator, lieutenant governor, and governor, it seemed perfect then for him to announce his plans to run for governor. “I want to create opportunities for education. Keyword, ‘opportunities,'” Parson said in his announcement. “When these politicians say the word ‘free,’ we all know what that means. That means that you and I are going to have to pay for it. Because when it comes to government, nothing is free.” [1]

Galloway, Parsons Democratic opposition, has her eye on the title of Missouri governor as well, although it will be an uphill battle for her as Missouri overwhelmingly voted for Donald Trump in 2016. “Missouri families can’t afford four more years of Governor Parson,” Galloway said. She continued by pointing out that because of him, there have been a drop in Medicaid rolls as well as the loss of hospitals in rural parts of the state.

Unfortunately for her, Galloway will already be running behind in the race just because she’s running as a Democrat. “The fact of the matter is, she’s still going to have that ‘D’ behind her name, and Mike Parson is still going to have that ‘R’ behind his name,” Robynn Kuhlmann, a University of Central Missouri political scientist, said.

Into the Spotlight

Some believe that Parson hasn’t accomplished anything so far. “Missourians deserve better than a governor whose sole accomplishment is that he isn’t Eric Greitens,” the Democratic Governors Association said Saturday in a news release. “We look forward to holding career politician Parson to account for putting himself and his special interest friends ahead of Missouri.”

So far, the biggest thing that has put Parson into the spotlight was his signing the abortion law earlier this year. The law banned women from getting abortions after the eighth week of pregnancy and caused much commotion throughout Missouri but also caused him to gain unfailing support from conservatives and many Republicans which could help him win the election.

Kansas City Chiefs Lose Hill to Injury, Mahomes Remains in Game

Jacksonville, FL. – On Sunday’s (September 8, 2019) game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville, Florida, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and wide receiver got injured. Patrick Mahomes, their quarterback, and Tyreek Hill, the wide receiver, both sustained injuries in the first half, fortunately, Mahomes is expected to play in the next game, Hill, however, might be sitting out the next four or five games.

Tyreek Hill’s Shoulder Injury

In the first quarter of the game Mahomes threw to wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Hill caught it then got tackled by Jalen Ramsey, cornerback for the Jaguars. When Hill and Ramsey hit the ground, Hill’s shoulder had all the weight of Ramsey and Hill on it. Tyreek Hill was taken off the field and to the locker room in a golf cart. While the game was still going Hill was taken to the nearby Baptist Medical Center for tests.

The report came back that Hill had a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. The dislocated sternoclavicular joint was reduced without surgery. Hill stayed the night at the medical center than took a flight back to Kansas City Monday. Tyreek is expected to miss four to six weeks. “I know there is speculation out there about how long, but he’s truly a week-to-week injury. He will be listed as out this week.” Chiefs head trainer and VP Rick Burkholder said. [1]

Patrick Mahomes Injury

In the second quarter in the game against the Jaguars, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes sprained his ankle. He was being crowded in the pocket by Jaguars defenders on third-and-7 at Jacksonville’s 7-yard line; he got tackled by multiple Jaguars when his ankle got sprained.  After the play, Mahomes had to be helped off the field. Mahomes went to the blue tent to get his ankle checked out and came out a few moments later with his left ankle heavily taped up. The coaches let him get back into the game after he was checked on. As he walked back onto the field you could see a noticeable limp. Coach Andy Reid was keeping an eye on him throughout the rest of the game. Mahomes managed to not miss a single play during his visit to the blue tent, as the referees were talking over a fight that had started while Mahomes was being checked.

After the game, Mahomes had a more thorough examination of his ankle. When he came out to talk to the media, he said that his ankle was fine. Mahomes did not have any sort of brace or boot on his ankle, so many figure that the sprain is minor. On Wednsday Patrick Mahomes was doing his normal reps at practice.

Mahomes said to the media, “It’s feeling better every single day. That’s the biggest thing. That first day after, it was a little sore. Since then, the swelling’s gone down, and I’m able to move around a little bit better, so I’m excited about getting on the practice field and be able to go out there and still get all the reps that I would usually get.” Mahomes continued by saying, “If you played sports, you’ve had ankle injuries before, so right when it happened, I knew what it was, but I was glad I was able to get back out there and finish the game and excited about the progress I’ve had so far.” [2]

Patrick Mahomes is scheduled to play this Sunday. Tyreek Hill will not. September 15, 2019, the Kansas City Chiefs are going against the Oakland Raiders at the O.co Coliseum in Oakland, California. The game will start at 3:05 Central Time and you can watch it on CBS.

The iPhone 11: A Flagship Sailing Nowhere

On Tuesday Apple announced their newest trio of smartphones; no longer is the iPhone X the big thing, it’s now all about the iPhone 11 and its slightly controversial back cameras. However, although the iPhone 11 is the new “it” phone, are they worth the $1,000 price tag? And are you really saving $300 by buying the iPhone 11 at $700 instead of its more techy brothers, the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max, which cost upwards of $999? It’s time we begin to face the future, and with that, face the unfortunate reality that phone creators cannot continue to release a phone every 10 months. Apple’s newest flagship is sailing towards a new world, one where the iPhone doesn’t run the show.

September 9, Apple released their newest phones, the iPhone 11, the iPhone 11 Pro, and the iPhone Pro Max (starting at $699, $999, and $1,099 respectively). Like so many of the iPhones that have set sail before it, the 11 comes with a more powerful chip and an even better camera than its predecessor, the iPhone X.

Strangely enough, that’s all it comes with.

Besides the addition of another camera sensor and a triple camera system on the 11 Pro, it’s almost identical to the iPhone X. “Ultra Wide, Wide and Telephoto camera, delivering huge improvements to low-light photography and offering the highest quality video in a smartphone that is great for shooting action videos,” proclaims the Apple website, but that’s basically where the bragging stops. Besides the high tech camera system, the specs of the 11 are so similar to the X making many wonder why Apple even bothered to put out another phone.

“iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max are the most powerful and advanced smartphones we have ever made. They are packed with sophisticated technology that pros can count on to get their work done, and for anyone who wants the very best device made, even if they are not a pro,” [1]said Phil Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, before moving on to what exactly “sophisticated technology” is.
“iPhone 11 Pro has the first triple-camera system in iPhone and is far and away the best camera we’ve ever made, it provides our customers with great range of creative control and advanced photo and video editing features in iOS 13.” Schiller said, then briefly commented on how their new power chip allows the phone to have an even longer battery life- the brunt of many a joke on twitter.
Even more disappointing than the new iPhone 11 Pro Max is the iPhone 11. The 11 is almost a replica of the iPhone XR, from the same screen to the same body. The iPhone XR was often referred to as the ‘budget” iPhone, due to it costing only $600 compared to the XS’s $1,000+ price tag. If you take away the second back camera and the newest colors, the iPhone 11 is just a knockoff of the XR, except without the “budget” tagline.

So why does Apple continue to kick new phones, that look exactly like their old phones, into the market? Especially since less and less people are upgrading their phones every year. Apple has a large base of customers who will buy anything they put on their shelves, no matter the price, but maybe Apple should back off and come up with something worth selling. Not just the iPhone X Remastered.
They won’t lose that many customers if they don’t release a phone for two years- infact, they might gain a few new customers.

President Trump Remarks on the 9/11 Attacks at Pentagon Observance Ceremony

Eighteen years ago, al Qaeda terrorists overtook multiple plane flights and crashed them, killing nearly 3,000 people while hoping to destroy the American spirit. Today, on September 11, we take a moment to remember the people that died in the attacks as well as turning our thought to the men and women who are stationed overseas, those who are working in law enforcement, the Department of Homeland security, and other offices and thank them for protecting our country.

This morning President Trump made some remarks at the Pentagon during the Pentagon Observation Ceremony. “For every American who lived through that day, the September 11th attack is seared into our soul. It was a day filled with shock, horror, sorrow, and righteous fury,” said Trump.

“Even in the midst of the attack, the world witnessed the awesome power of American defiance. Forty passengers and crew on Flight 93 rose up, fought back, and thwarted the enemy’s wicked plans. In their final moments, these American heroes thunderously declared that we alone decide our fate.

“Here on the western side of the Pentagon, we saw brave men and women rush into the fire and race into the scorching flames to rescue their colleagues. When evil seeks to do us harm, the incredible men and women of the United States military answer with unyielding valor and unstoppable resolve.”

President followed by reminding everyone that the future of the U.S. is in the hands of Americans. “The heroes present today remind us of an immortal truth. The future of our nation is secured through the vigilance of our people… The sons and daughters who suffered grave loss, and yet through it all, persevere to care for our neighbors, defend our homeland, and safeguard our nation. Each of your lives tells the story of courage and character, virtue and valor, resilience and resolve, loyalty, and love.” [1]

Let us never forget our heritage; let us continue to strive to live up to our values and continue to live as a Godly country.

God bless the United States of America.

MDC Requires Hunters Submit Samples for CWD Testing in “Management Zones”

Deer season is fast approaching, starting September 15 deer season will open up for archers across the state of Missouri with firearm portions opening up later in the year. However, since 2012, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has been testing deer around the state for chronic waste disease (CWD), which although it has not been proven to be fatal to humans, it is deadly to the deer it infects.

CWD in Missouri

CWD is a fatal, infectious disease that is easily spread between deer; there is no vaccine or cure for the animal once it has the disease. So far, scientists can’t find any cases of CWD infecting or harming people. However, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends to test your deer anyway as well as not eating the deer if it tests positive for CWD, as it’s better to be safe than sorry.

2019 CWD map (official photo by MDC.).
2019 CWD map (official photo by MDC.).

In the past, MDC has worked to keep CWD limited throughout the deer population in Missouri, and so far they’ve done a pretty good job. In the past seven years, only 116 deer have been found to be infected by CWD out of the more than 100,000 deer that they’ve taken samples from.

Unfortunately, Illinois and Arkansas both have higher cases of CWD than Missouri, causing counties closer to the states to border more susceptible to CWD cases.

Arkansas has found 570 deer and elk to test positive for CWD from the 18,000 samples they’ve taken since 2016. [1] Illinois has also had over 500 CWD cases in the past 12 years, with the number steadily climbing- Illinois expects at least 31 deer to be found infected with CWD annually. [2]

Management Zones

However, even though MDC has managed to control the disease so far, they do have “management zones” around counties near, or where a CWD case was found. CWD Management Zone for this season include the following counties: [3]

  • Adair
  • Barry
  • Cedar
  • Chariton
  • Christian
  • Crawford
  • Franklin
  • Gasconade
  • Hickory
  • Howell
  • Jefferson
  • Knox
  • Linn
  • Macon
  • Mercer
  • Oregon
  • Ozark
  • Perry
  • Polk
  • Putnam
  • St. Charles
  • St. Clair
  • St. Francois
  • Ste. Genevieve
  • Stone
  • Sullivan
  • Taney
  • Warren
  • Washington

If you don’t happen to live in one of those counties, from September 15 until January 15, you can still get your deer tested for CWD for free at a regional MDC office. However, if you do live in one of the listed counties and harvest a deer in the opening weekend of Novembers firearm season (November 16 an 17) you are required to take the head (with at least six inches of neck attached) of the harvested deer to one of MDC’s stations on the same day you killed the deer. To find a sampling station close to you click here and find your county on the list provided.

Go prepared when taking your deer to a CWD sampling station with the following steps.

  • Field dress and Telecheck deer before arrival at a sampling station.
  • Bring the carcass or just the head with at least six inches of the neck attached.
  • Capes may be removed in preparation for taxidermy before going to a sampling station.
  • The person who harvested the deer must be present.
  • The hunter’s conservation number will be required, along with the specific location of harvest.
  • If using a paper permit, have it detached from the deer for easy access.
  • If using the MO Hunting app, have a permit and Telecheck information available.
  • Position deer in vehicles with heads and necks easily accessible.

Missouri Deer Season is Coming Up, Here’s What you Need to Know

Missouri is beginning to experience fall weather, and with that, one starts thinking about deer hunting. Those majestic creatures that destroy foliage and cause vehicle accidents have a season all to themselves.

Details About Archery Season

Deer season begins with archery season. September 15. 2019 is opening day. This portion of archery is open until firearm season almost begins, November 15, 2019. Archery season stops throughout firearm season, before it reopens November 27, 2019. This part of archery lasts until January 15, 2019. This offers hunters plenty of time to track their game, kill it, and harvest it. There are stipulations and specific regulations regarding archery season and one can click here for further information.

Details About Firearm Season

Several dates divide the deer firearm season. Beginning with November 2-3, 2019 the youth may hunt. This allows new and young hunters to have an opportunity for the “big one” before experienced adults go into the field and practice their skills. This is during the archery season. The regular November portion of firearm season is November 16-26, 2019. Following this is another youth hunt at November 29- December 1, 2019. Missouri does have an antlerless season of December 6-8, 2019. And the firearm portion of the season ends with the alternative methods portion December 28, 2019- January 7, 2020.

General Details

Deer season begins one-half hour before sunrise each day and ends a one-half hour after sunset each day.  Hunters are required to wear orange during firearm season. Tagging the animal and using appropriate equipment are all a must. These regulations and more are found on the Missouri Department of Conservation website  [1].

Kansas City Chiefs Win First Season Game Over Jacksonville Jaguars

Jacksonville, FL. – This is the moment everyone has been waiting for — the start of the NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs went up against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville, Florida on TIAA Bank Field, or EverBank Field. From the beginning of the game, the Chiefs took the game. The Chiefs won by 14 points; the final score was 40-26.

A Good Start

It took just one minute and thirty-six seconds for the Chiefs to get a touchdown and field goal. The Chiefs also scored a three-point field goal, putting the score to 10-0. It was nearing the end of the first quarter when the Jaguars scored a touchdown and their field goal. The Chiefs made a touchdown and made their field goal attempt for one point at 13 minutes into the game. The Jaguars made a three-point field goal attempt at the beginning of the second quarter. Both the Chiefs and the Jaguars made a three-point field goal in the second quarter. That put the score to 20-13. The Chiefs made another field goal attempt for three points before the halftime. The halftime score was 23-13, with the Chiefs in the lead.

In the third quarter, the Chiefs were the only ones to score a point, making it 30-13 at the end of the third quarter.  In the fourth quarter, both teams made points. The Chiefs made another touchdown and succeeded with the field goal attempt. The Jaguars made 6 points, then the Chiefs made 3 points, and the last points got to the Jaguars who made a touchdown and their field goal attempt. The final score was 40-26.

Putting on a Show

Patrick Mahomes, starting QB for the Chiefs, threw for 211 yards in the first quarter, becoming the first QB in 40 years with at least 200 yards in the first quarter of a season opener. Mahomes threw for 378 yards, three touchdowns, and a no-look pass which he, unfortunately, threw to high for tight end Travis Kelce.

Nick Foles, starting QB for the Jaguars, threw for 78 yards and one touchdown before getting hurt and taken out of the game. Gardner Minshew, the back-up QB for the Jaguars, threw for 275 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception.

Several Injuries

There were several injuries in this game, with a few of both teams star players getting hurt on the field. Nick Foles, the quarterback for the Jaguars, was escorted off the field to the locker room in the first half of the game. Reports came back later in the game and said that he had broken his collarbone. He was out the rest of the game. Tyreek Hill, wide receiver for the Chiefs, also got out of the game at an early point. Hill was taken to the hospital for tests, and the results came back saying that he had a collarbone injury.

Patrick Mahomes, starting quarterback for the Chiefs, also had an injury. In the second quarter, Mahomes got tackled and sprained his ankle. Mahomes was helped off the field and into the tent but returned a few minutes later with his left ankle all taped up. He went right back into the game though, and played for the rest of the game, heavily relying on his pocket coverage.
