The Alton Bank has been working hard and giving back to the community. Partnering with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), the Alton Bank has donated $400,000 in total to the city of Alton; the Alton Senior Center; the Oregon County Food Pantry; and Alton, Rover, Koshkonong, Thomasville, BB Road Volunteer Fire Department’s.
Alton City Hall
Working with FHLB Des Moines, the Alton Bank gave the city of Alton a $110,000 grant for park equipment. The bank donated $27,500, and FHLB Des Moines donated the rest. At the city council meeting on Monday, August 11, 2026, the check was given to the city council. The city council is planning on having park equipment at both Tucker Creek Park and Piney Creek Park.
Food Pantry
The Oregon County Food Pantry was also given a grant from the Alton Bank and FHLB Des Moines. The grant is worth $20,000. [1]
Senior Center
The third entity that received a grant from the Alton Bank and FHLB Des Moines is the Alton Senior Center. The senior center’s grant is worth $200,000, with the Alton Bank donating $50,000 and FHLB Des Moines donating the rest.
Fire Department’s
The last group who received grants were local volunteer fire department’s including Alton, Rover, Koshkonong, Thomasville, and BB Road. Each fire department received $10,000.

The Alton Bank personally gave $100,000 to Alton and the surrounding communities. FHLB Des Moines matched their donation in a three to one ratio, donating $300,000. In total, $400,000 was given to Alton, Koshkonong, Thomasville, Rover, and BB Road.
