The Alton Chamber of Commerce met on Thursday, October 15, 2026. Besides a special speaker from the Optimist club, there were decisions to be made regarding the Trunk-or-Treat and membership.
Guest Speaker
Shava Norsworthy, Optimist Club Lieutenant Governor for the district, presented regional youth program initiatives and outlined structural requirements for chartering an Alton Optimist Club.
Trunk-or-Treat
This year’s trunk-or-treat will be on October 31st between 5-7 pm on the square. There will be a costume contest for families and individuals; and an inflatable costume race with age groups. There will be prizes awarded to all the winners. There is no cost either to set up your car and give out candy or participate in the contest and races.
Membership Drive
Also discussed was hosting a membership drive with incentives for those that attend and become members. It was decided to pursue that in January.
Walnut Festival T-Shirt
It was also decided to have a local student design next year’s Walnut Festival shirt. the proposed designs will be at the trunk-or-treat.
