Alton, Mo. – It’s summertime and the regular school year has stopped. Temperatures on the rise means swimming pools open. Alton, Missouri city pool is no exception.
When speaking with Amy at the city hall, she said that the pool opens Saturday, May 25, 2019. There will probably be swim classes sometime. But open swim for anyone and everyone is from 12:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The pool itself has a wading pool for young children and their parents to cool off in. Next to it is the larger pool. It is divided into two parts separated by buoys. The deeper end has a single level diving board. For pool use, there are swimming noodles and boards available. One can also bring their own diving toys. No glass or breakables, please.
Children three and under are allowed to attend free. All older than three may pay a nominal price of $4.00 each. A family of four may purchase a family summer ticket for $180.00. Each additional family member can attend for $25.00 per season. All of these can be purchased at the pool. Last year the lifeguards also sold snacks and drinks.
The pool is open unless there is inclement weather. When there is thunder in the area, everyone is to get out of the pool. Once a storm passes, the pool opens again.
The pool is a cool refresher for hot summer days. Alongside that, swimming uses much exercise on children to make them healthy during the day and sleep better at night.
