Thayer, Mo. – On Friday, October 2, the Thayer Bobcats took on the Cabool Bulldogs. Adding to the day were heavy rain and homecoming events. Nonetheless, the Bobcats focused on the task at hand and pulled off a huge victory.
Beginning
Preceding the game, thank-yous were extended to HOE and Bartlett Electric for assistance with power issues. This was not a good way to begin the evening.
First
During the first quarter, Poole dominated the field. Several times he had the ball and ran over ten yards, sometimes over twenty. Boyce was alongside him, too, running and scoring. These two players helped set the pace for the game. We do realize that this could not have happened without the support, blocking, and receiving of the rest of the team. The quarter ended with Poole intercepting the Bulldog’s ball and running in for a touchdown. As Cabool did not score, the final score was 25-0.

Second
The second quarter saw more like the first with the Bobcats dominating the field. Johnson stepped up and scored a couple of touchdowns. Then Boyce went into the end zone again. A few fumbles did not deter the Cats. At halftime, the score was 51-0 with the Thayer Bobcats leading.
Halftime
The Thayer Marching Band performed at halftime, complete with uniforms and pirate costumes on the flag girls. The energy they displayed was a reflection of the football players- electric!

There was a short demonstration of handing the sports department a white football. It was the first football Thayer had. It was white, so it could be seen in the dark. They also remarked how Thayer got its colors: another team was quitting football and gave them their old uniforms. Hence, they are green and white!
Third
The third quarter saw more funbles. Perhaps hands were wet and slippery from the recent rain? Still, Johnson ran for 43 yards to set up the Bobcats for another touchdown. At the end of the third quarter, the Bobcats led 58-0.

Fourth
The clock kept ticking the third quarter as neither team scored. Skyles from Cabool did most of their running that quarter. The game ended 58-0.
Homecoming
Meanwhile, the stands were packed with Thayer alumni. As the homecoming queen was a cheerleader, she wore her crown while doing pyramids. It was an eventful evening.
