Sometimes, we wonder what the rest of the story is. In a strange twist of fate, we saw two people from opposing countries work together to save many.
On September 30, a Ukrainian and a Russian passenger worked together to safely land a Flydubai flight heading from Dubai to Tel Aviv. A crew member stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the plane. [1]
The attacker is believed to be an Omani citizen. He inflicted numerous stab wounds on the Emirati captain. Passengers reacted quickly to the emergency, subduing the aggressive crew member.
The Ukrainian and Russian passengers were both pilots traveling off-duty. Putting aside the ongoing war between their two nations, they took control of the aircraft. Their teamwork saved the lives of about 180 people on board.

The two men successfully landed the plane at an airport in Saudi Arabia. Following the incident, Flydubai announced plans to thoroughly inspect all of its aircraft.
Israeli authorities plan to send an evacuation flight to Riyadh. They will bring their citizens home once they receive the necessary authorization.
Early media reports falsely claimed the distress signals were caused by a physical fight between the Ukrainian and Russian pilots. These claims were untrue. The two men were actually working together to prevent a disaster.
