Alton, Mo. – The Alton City Council met on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, for its monthly meeting. Some of the things discussed were closing down a street, renting out the VFW, and fixing a couple of wells, among other things.
Community Input
During the community input section, an individual asked whether or not Laurel Avenue and Haigwood Drive could be closed during the night to prevent cars from driving on those streets unnecessarily. The council decided that they could not do that.
VFW
The city council also talked about renting out the VFW, since an individual is wanting to rent it out in December. It was decided that it would cost $150, with the renter getting back $100 if he cleaned the building after the event.
Wells
It was also discussed how a couple of the city wells aren’t functioning properly. Currently, parts are being sent to New York to be looked at and to decide what’s wrong. They hope that they know what’s wrong in 3-4 weeks.
