The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is having nature-themed embroidery classes which will ultimately end in a quilt at the end of the year. Missourians across the state can participate virtually or in-person.
Supplies
All participants are required to provide their own embroidery hoop, needle, and thread. MDC will provide patterns, fabric, light boards, and Frixion pens. [1]
The Quilt
There will be twelve meetings, one held each month. By the end of the twelve months, in December, you’ll have made your own blocking quilt!
In-Person Classes
There will be two locations for the in-person classes. The first location will be at Mingo National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center in Puxico. They will have their classes on the second Monday of each month from 10-11 am. The second location is the Cape Girardeau Nature Center. Their classes will be on the third Thursday of each month at 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm.
Virtual Classes
If you aren’t able to make it to the in-person classes, virtual options are also available. The virtual classes take place on the second Monday of each month at noon and at 5:00 pm. To register for the noon class, you can go here; to register for the evening class, you can go here.
