Where and When
For a small, remote region in northern Russia, totality will occur mid-day. In Greenland and Iceland, the Sun will go dark in the late afternoon or early evening. In Spain and the northwestern tip of Portugal, the Sun will not be fully eclipsed until the late evening, shortly before sunset.] For most people in the path of totality, the Sun will be fully eclipsed for less than two minutes.

Many other places in the Northern Hemisphere will experience a partial solar eclipse that day. This includes parts of the northern United States, most of Canada, much of Europe, and northwestern Africa.
In The US?
People in the United States and southern Canada will see only a small bite taken out of the solar disk. Viewers must use eye protection to look directly at the eclipse, except during the brief moments of totality when the Moon completely blocks the Sun’s bright face.
NASA will stream the eclipse live starting at 1:15 p.m. EDT on Aug. 12.
