Alton, Mo. – Due to a generous grant donation from the Alton Bank and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB Des Moines), the city of Alton received $110,000 for park equipment. From that money, the city of Alton has purchased and put up a new playground at the walking trail at Tucker Creek Park.
Grant
At the August 2026 city council meeting, Randall Combs owner of the Alton Bank presented the $110,000 check to the council.[1] The only specification for the grant was that it be used for playground equipment.

Discussion
The city council decided on a new playground for Tucker Creek Park. There was discussion to get new playground equipment for Piney Creek Park as well as Tucker Creek Park, along with moving the old playground down to the walking trail at Tucker Creek Park.
New Playground!
After the October city council meeting, the city began construction on the new playground. Shortly before the end of October, the city had the majority of the playground done! Families should be careful at the new playground as one of the slides is incomplete (the city is waiting on the part), and the pea gravel is not in yet.

So although the playground is open to the public, the community should be careful around the playground as it’s not finished yet. According to the city council, at the November meeting, the council will vote on what to put around the playground to keep the gravel in.
