Senator Schmitt has not been long in his office in Washington D.C. Nonetheless, he has submitted his first bill: the ERASER Act. The ERASER Act would require agencies that issue a new regulation to repeal three existing regulations. His thoughts for creating this act come from trying to live under so many government regulations.

What The Bill Does

SB 1419 aims to reduce government regulation. The name ERASER refers to Expediting Reform And Stopping Excess Regulations. Schmitt tweeted

Schmitt wants to remove outdated and burdensome laws and policies. This could bring structural reform.

When Was It Submitted?

On May 3, 2023, Schmitt submitted the bill to the Senate. It has been read twice and is referred to the Homeland Security Committee.
