Vice President of the United States JD Vance and his wife welcomed their fourth child on July 19, 2026. The baby’s birth marks the first time in 150 years that a Vice President has had a baby while in office.
Vance’s Family
Vance has been married to Usha since 2014. Along with the newborn, they have three other children: Ewan who is 9, Vivek who is 6, and Mirabel who is 4. [1]
A New Baby
The Vance family announced in January that they were expecting another baby. The new baby, a son named Alec, was born on Sunday, July 19th. [2]
150 Years
Alec’s birth makes it the first time in 150 years that the Vice President has had a baby while in office. Although the records weren’t always kept well, the last baby born to a Vice President while he was in office was in 1870 with Schuyler Colfax, Vice President to Ulysses S. Grant. [3]
