Driving on Highway 19 outside of Alton towards Greer for the past several years, onlookers could see the construction and progress going on with Bootleggers BBQ. After a couple years of construction and multiple hiccups along the way, Bootleggers BBQ is getting ready to open in early January of 2026.
Opening
In a Facebook post, Bootleggers BBQ said that they’ll concentrate on the catering they have booked for Thanksgiving and Christmas before turning their focus to opening. As of now, the restaurant is looking to have their grand opening in early January of 2026. [1]
The Restaurant
Bootleggers BBQ used to be located in West Plains, Missouri. Three years ago, the owners, Brian and Jessica Staack, decided to close down the restaurant, with one of the reasons being the long drive. When an opportunity arose for them to buy an old-time church right down the road from them, the Staacks bought the church and started the remodeling process. [2]
Activities
Along with the restaurant itself, there will also be an ice cream shop, a mini golf course, a petting zoo, a cornhole area, a jumbo jenga, and more classic family games. [3]
More Than A Restaurant
When talking to KY3, Brain Staack stated that:
From the beginning, I wanted something that we could give the community something different (To) give them something to do. So that’s why we have more than just a restaurant. [4]
Anticipation
Bootleggers BBQ was loved when it was located in West Plains, and, no doubt, it will be loved even more when it opens in Alton. After three years of waiting, the community and surrounding areas are excited for Bootleggers BBQ to be open.
