Snow makes the ground clean and white. Being in the middle of the country, our snow is melting fast! Sunshine and higher temperatures bring us mud instead. That is not the case out west. While they have been having a moisture drought, that is ending. Along Interstate 80 in the Sierra Nevada mountains, they are expecting 3-5 FEET of snow by Wednesday night. One can expect chains to be required, followed by road closures, especially on smaller roadways.
Where Is This?
Places in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California along the southern part are preparing for snow. Up north, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana are all expecting accumulations.
Actions
If you are already out in one of the areas, it is best to sit tight and wait until this storm passes and the roads clear. If you are planning a trip this way, you may want to reconsider the timing. Heavy snow is expected through Wednesday in California. Add another day for states west of it.
Timing
This is another storm coming to pass. March will arrive soon with daffodils and crocuses, Canada geese and robins. In the meantime, we sit on our porch in the sunshine and think sadly of those caught in cold weather.
