Alton, Mo. – Members of the Alton community met last night to pray together. While that may not seem strange, the fact that several denominations were present, united in prayer for our community and our nation, was encouraging. Perhaps this is the beginning of a united front against the forces of evil. ‘We have too much in common to be seperate.’
Music
Three pledges and a couple of songs began the service.

Although Reverend Chastain from the Alton Assembly of God Church hosted the event, he easily let others lead. The congregational singing was led by Danny from the church. Then Pastor Kelly from the Symrna Freewill Baptist Church read a proclamation from President Trump, followed by a song with his wife. Pastor Crum from Alton’s First Baptist Church led in a prayer of dedication and followed up with an introduction of Jom Hower, the speaker.

Speaker
Jim spoke about prayer, how Webster defines it, and its essence. He declared that we often think prayer is us talking to God. However, he added that it should be talking to God, then listening to God.
Snacks
Following the service, everyone went downstairs to the fellowship hall to truly fellowship. A variety of desserts were present, including fruit for those who did not believe the saying that ‘prayer erases calories.’
People of all ages enjoyed the time of fellowship.
