Alton, Mo. – The Oregon County Chamber of Commerce met on June 18 at Collins Coffee on the square in Alton. While they did go through the agenda, much of the time was spent discussing the pocket park plans.
Beginning
The meeting came to order at noon. Reports were given and approved. With the financial report, it was noted that the banners hanging around the square were paid for in conjunction with the culture club. They moved on to discuss membership letters. They also discussed its website and Facebook pages and who has access to them.
Pocket Park
Then the discussion turned to the pocket park. It is located between Collins Coffee and the Alton Library. The chamber has been working on ideas and finances for its renovation. Meanwhile, the Alton City Council has its own ideas. At the last city council meeting, many were present to present their opinions. The council suggested an open forum for everyone to share their opinions. This meeting was Only announced as a flyer in the city hall. Thus, few attended the meeting. The city council said its piece on its plans.
Chamber
The chamber is not scheduling an open-forum town hall meeting prior to the next city council meeting. Everyone can attend and share their thought, opinions, plans, and priorities for the pocket park. Most people want it to look better than uneven gravel. This is an open meeting, announced ahead of time, for all interested to attend.
Elections
The end of the meeting was elections. Each officer from last year was reelected, at least for the time being. One may beed to resign based on a busy schedule.
