The Missouri Beef Industry Council and MU Extension are partnering to offer a free Beef Quality Assurance training on August 12, 2026. [1] The evening event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Doniphan Community Center. Funded by the Beef Checkoff, the program guides anyone handling cattle toward science-based production practices.
The two-hour training will be taught by MU Extension Livestock Specialists Eric Meusch and Elizabeth Picking. Â Instruction will focus on consumer concerns, proper cattle handling, and animal health practices.

“This training is part of a nationwide effort to educate beef cattle producers on the process of producing safe, high quality beef cattle on the farm,” said Picking.
The BQA program connects producers with the newest research and animal care techniques. By becoming certified, producers can uphold consumer confidence, enhance herd profitability, and safeguard the public image of the beef industry. Attendees can become BQA certified during the event, and the certification is valid for three years.
