Alton, Mo. – On Thursday, October 20, 2022, the Alton Chamber of Commerce met to review the Walnut Festival, as well as plan a trunk or treat and the Christmas parade. Community members as well as local businesses attended.

Walnut Festival

The 2022 Black & Gold Walnut Festival was a huge success! We had so many people attend and most attendees stayed all day, shopping and browsing. Vendors told of large sales. Adults, children, and people of all ages enjoyed it. One change was announced. The Friday evening run will no longer take place due to a lack of interest. Other fun activities, along with the Cruise-In, will happen during that time. It was suggested to have an online vendor application process. They did need additional trash cans.

Incidentally, the best booth prize went to Broadway Boutique.

Trunk or Treat

The Alton Chamber of Commerce is working closely with City Hall to determine the time and interest for a trunk or treat. If held, it would be on Halloween, October 31.

Christmas Parade

The annual Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 3, 2022. Last year hosted 17 vendors. The chamber discussed placement for vendors. One suggestion was at the new city park, which is beside the library. For inclement weather, the Community Worship Center is suggested.

Stay tuned for additional information as it becomes available.
