Chamber Makes Final Plans For Upcoming Walnut Festival And Run

Alton, Mo. – The Alton Chamber of Commerce met on Thursday, September 9, 2021, at the Burger Palace, to make the final plans for the 36th Black Gold Walnut Festival and run.

The Run

The run will begin and end at the Alton High School in the evening of Friday, October 1, 2021. The Redline Band will perform at the race. Fifty percent of the profits from the corn-hole tournament and all of the profits from the run will go to the cross country team. The Alton High School Seniors of 2022 will have a concession stand up during the race so you can get refreshed. Porta potties will be available at the race. If you register before September 17th, you will for sure get a t-shirt. If you register after September 17th, the t-shirt is not guaranteed.

Walnut Festival Day

There will be approximately eighty pumpkins at the Walnut Festival to be carved. The Baker Family, Eli & T-Bone, and the Redline band will perform throughout the day. Food, games, shirts, and more will be at the festival.

Contests

If you want to enter a contest, there is a woodworking contest, baking contest, and pumpkin contest. For the baking and woodworking contest, the entry forms need to be at the Chamber Booth by 10:00 am. For the baking contest, it is judged on appearance, taste, and creativity. The food must have black walnuts and must be made from scratch. When you enter the baked item, have the recipe with it.
