Coronavirus Canceled!

The coronavirus is stifling the nation. Alton, Missouri and its surrounding communities are no exception.  As a general rule, most events are canceled or postponed. When in doubt, feel free to call those sponsoring the event. Here is a partial list of cancellations to get you going.

Schools

Basically all schools in the area are closed until April 6. Before that date, school officials will review the circumstances and warnings to decide further actions.

Churches

Most churches have canceled services until further notice. Some churches already have online services available to offer help and encouragement. Mammoth Spring First Baptist Church has its services live on Facebook. First Baptist Church in West Plains also has its services on Facebook and online at http://www.westplainsfirst.org/. Alton Freewill Baptist Church also has online live streaming at WWW.altonfwb.org. Macedonia Baptist Church also has a website where one can listen to the sermons, https://mbcaltonmo.org/

Other

Various other cancellations are coming in, and here are just a few: Alton Senior Center activities, BB Road fish fry, Zizzer Golf Tournament, Hardy Gun and Knife Show, West Plains Chamber of Commerce meeting, driver road testing at all Missouri state locations, concerts, sporting events, and the Pie Festival.  Almost all courthouses in the area are closed.
