It is the season to spread to others. One way is to make Christmas cookies. Another way to make people smile is through singing. Put them together and the recipient can’t help but smile. Carolers don’t need to carry a tune, just the willingness to share cheer. The number one Christmas carol is We Wish You A Merry Christmas. Easy to learn for any age.

Quick History

Although the actual origin of the carol is unknown, there are records of children singing this song as early as the 16th century. They sang it as they went door to door. In the 1930’s, the song became more popular due to Arthur Warrell, a composer, arranger, and organist. Together with the University of Bristol Madrigal Singers, they performed this carol in publicly on December 6, 1935.

Modern Recordings

More modern recordings include the famous Bing Crosby recording it on an album in 1963 and lateer, John Denver had it on his album in 1979.

But the all time best singers are the ones in your neighborhood, going door to door spreading Christmas cheer. You can join them. Grab hubby and the kids and a batch of cookies, together with your singing voices, the holidays simply seem better.
