What Do You Know About Snakes In Missouri?

How much do you know about snakes? Can you tell me if this one is friendly? My child is fascinated by the way they move. Is there a way for him to learn more? Christmas break boredom: what to do. Springfield’s MDC (Missouri Department of Conservation) can answer all these questions and more.

The snake is one of Missouri’s most misunderstood creatures. Despite their frightful reputations, snakes are useful pest-control animals for humans, most of which are not venomous.

What Is Happening?

Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Springfield Conservation Nature Center is hosting a free program entitled “Reptiles: Snakes of Missouri”. MDC Naturalist Jordanya Raos will discuss some of the common snake species found in Missouri. In addition to providing tips on identifying venomous snakes in the state, she will also discuss snakes’ valuable role as pest control agents when they hunt mice and rats.

Who Can Attend?

This program is designed for all ages. Though this program is free, registration is NOT required to participate. People can simply show up and participate.
