St. Jude Benefits And Fundraisers That Are Happening

Local businesses and individuals are having fundraisers for St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Fundraisers are going on in both Thayer and Alton.

Alton

At Simpson’s True Value, Holly is selling baked goods. Some of the treats include cakes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and bread, among other things. You can contact her at 417-270-0119 to make an order and set up a pickup/delivery date. [1]

NAPA

The Piney Creek Farm & Auto and Napa Auto Parts is having a raffle for a toolbox and a Dewalt drill/sawzall combo kit. Tickets are one for $1 or six for $5. [2]

Rifle Raffle

A raffle for a Heritage Rough Rider .22 Caliber is going on in Alton. One ticket is $5, or five tickets for $20. You can purchase tickets at Simpson’s True Value or Crumpie’s BBQ. [3] The winner will be drawn on February 14th.

Pizza

Alton Quick Connection and Fuel Express have teamed up to help St. Jude’s. On the day of the radiothon, February 14th, you can buy a slice of pizza for $1.50, a hunk (two slices) for $3.00, or a whole pizza for $10.00, and the proceeds will go to St. Jude’s. [4]

Senior Center

The Alton Senior Center is having a bake sale on February 14th, starting at 10:00 am and going until they run out. [5] They will have delicious baked treats to be bought.

Lemonade Day

On February 12th at Piney Creek Farm and Auto, Carstyn (current St. Jude patient) and his sister Emalyn will have their lemonade day to “put a squeeze on cancer.” [6] They will start at 9:30 am and will go until 5:00 pm. Carstyn and Emalyn will have lemonade, cupcakes, and coffee available by donation.

Thayer

The Alton/Thayer Elks Lodge is having a silent auction to help St. Jude’s. You can bid on items whenever the lodge is open until February 10th at 8:00 pm. [7] Some of the items include a rafting trip, oil changes, and metal fire pits, among other things.

Boots

A W S  Twisted Cactus Western Store in Thayer will donate $15 for every pair of boots sold. [8] The store is on Highway 63 next to the Car Doctor II.

Country Cottage

The Country Cottage in Thayer will donate $1 from every meal purchased on February 14th to St. Jude. [9] Any additional donations can be left at the restaurant from now until the 14th.

Cover Lumber

Cover Lumber is seeing who can guess the number of nails in a fish bowl. One guess is $5, and five guesses are $20. [10] Whoever guesses the closest will get a DeWalt table saw. The winner will be announced during the radiothon on February 14th.

Hirsch

Hirsch’s in Thayer donates all the proceeds from their Hirsch apparel year-round to St. Jude. [11]
