The Alton Lady Comets basketball team took on the Thayer Lady Bobcats at home on February 5, 2024. Despite Alton’s best efforts, they were not able to win the game. The final score was 73-45, with Thayer taking the win.

First Half

The score at the end of the first quarter was 16-12, with Thayer in the lead. Turnovers were hurting the Comets a lot in the first half. McKenzie Smith of the Comets, and Joslyn Tucker and Abby Bowers of the Bobcats made steals for their respective teams in the second quarter. The score at halftime was 32-22, with Thayer in the lead.

Third Quarter

Right of the bat in the third quarter, Joslyn Tucker came off hot with several three-pointers. Evin Montgomery of the Comets also got a three in the third quarter. At the end of the quarter, Alton was down by 18 points.

A Longer Lead

By the fourth quarter, Alton was getting tired; they kept on pushing, though. Shaylee Peterson of the Bobcats had a three-pointer in the fourth quarter, as well as Evin Montgomery. Nearing the end of the game, McKenzie Smith had a steal, which she returned for a lay-up. The final score was 73-45, with Thayer winning. The future looks bright for both teams.
