Myrtle, Mo. – If you are looking for small-town fun, go no further than Myrtle! Their Yester-Daze festival is just around the corner. Whether you are looking for food, fine cars, contests, or entertainment, Myrtle is the place to be. Here is what you need to know.
What Will Be Happening?
The question to ask is what won’t be happening? At 7 am, we will hear our national anthem, followed by a pancake breakfast.
All donations go to the local volunteer fire department. By 8 am, craft booths will be opening, ready to sell their wares. The car show takes entries, and the contests for horseshoe pitching and corn holing start.
Contests
Between 8:30 and 9:30, one can enter a variety of contests: photography, pie canning, and sourdough. Quilt entries must be submitted by 8:30.
Next is the parade lineup at 9, and the parade begins at 10. At 10:30, winners of the Mr. and Miss Myrtle Yester-Daze contest will be announced. Wood events begin immediately following the parade. Children’s games and music commence at 11. Lunch, again by donation for the fire department, will be BBQ pork, tacos, and hot dogs.
So many contests and so many prizes- there is something for everyone.
Afternoon
Power races begin at 1; you will not want to miss that! The afternoon is filled with additional contests and the announcement of winners. Do not forget about the tug-of-war at the end of the day.
When Is This?
This takes place on Saturday, September 26, between 7 and 3.
Where Is Myrtle?
The easiest way to find Myrtle is to go to Thayer. Take Highway 142 east until Highway V. Turn right and follow to Myrtle. With all of the festivities, you cannot miss it.
