Alton, Mo. – AltonMo.com appreciates the freedoms we have here in the United States. But with these freedoms come responsibilities. One of our responsibilities as citizens is to vote. One should not take this obligation lightly, but with care and thought.

Which Elections Are Coming Up?

Missouri’s primary elections are coming up in less than two weeks. On Tuesday, August 2, Missouri legal citizens will vote in the party of their choice for whom they think best represents their ideas. Alton votes for local people like the county commissioner and clerk for the circuit judge. Some offices only have one candidate. Nevertheless, your vote does matter. On the  federal level, we cast a single ballot for our US Senator replacing Blunt and our US Representative. State wide, we cast our ballots for state auditor. Because of redistricting, we do not choose our state senator this time (Bean), but we can cast a vote for our state representative (Atchison who has no opponent). And area-wide, we will vote on a judge.

In order to know the candidates better, AltonMo.com has interviewed Judge Allen, Henry Smith, and Crystal Howell. As we get responses from candidates, we plan on posting their views and opinions.

Where To Vote

Alton has one election day polling place: the First Baptist Church on Highway 19 South. Polls are open at 7am until 7pm. However, early voting is currently allowed in the courthouse.
