Alton, Mo. –Although everyone is excited about Independence Day celebrations happening around the county for a few days, another item of interest must be kept in front of us. Elections are right around the corner. We have met some of the candidates. We see yard signs for name recognition. We’re reviewing the propositions. The only thing left is dates. Here are the important dates you will want to keep in mind. The office where one would take care of things is the county clerk’s office inside the Oregon County Courthouse in Alton.
-June 23, 2026, Absentee voting begins.
-July 8, 2026, The last date to register to vote for the August 4, 2026, Election (The office will be open till 5 pm.).
-July 21, 2026, No Excuse voting begins.
-July 22, 2026, Last day to request a ballot by mail (The office will be open till 5 pm.).
-July 24, 2026, The office will be open till 5 pm.
-August 1, 2026, The office will be open 8-12 pm. This is a Saturday.
-August 3, 2026, The office will remain open through the lunch hour and will be open till 5 pm.
-August 4, 2026, Election Day. Polls will be open 6 am-7 pm
