Alton, Mo. – We do like to travel around our county. Plus, with summer upon us, we travel to and from the river. Two of our main accesses, Turner Mill South and Whitten, may have restrictions at the beginning of August. To get to them, one travels on Highway AA, which MODOT has announced it will be resurfacing.
What Roadwork?
While many are rerouting their lives due to the widening of Highway M, another roadwork delay is coming to our area. MODOT plans to resurface Highway AA. After hitting or dodging potholes along the way, MODOT plans to fix the problem.
As AA is the way to Whitten and Turner Mill South river accesses, travelers can expect delays in their comings and goings.
When Will This Occur?
MODOT plans to begin the resurfacing project the week of August 10. It could take ten days, depending on the weather. As this is preceding the beginning of school, many families will try to get their last trip on the river.
Where Is This?
The roadwork will be on the entire length of paved Highway AA, beginning at MO 19 and continuing until the pavement stops, approximately 9.163 miles.
We have noticed potholes along AA that can make the narrow road hazardous. Drivers will need to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel as they resurface the pavement.
