Missouri First Lady Claudia Kehoe has stepped into the forefront as treasurer of a new political action committee dedicated to enacting a state constitutional amendment that would ban most abortions.
This is a move that pro-life advocates hail as a vital defense of the unborn to get Missouri back into the pro-life column, protecting babies from abortions.
PAC
The Her Health, Her Future PAC aims to rally voters behind Amendment 3, which will appear on the 2026 ballot. This is a legislative proposal to repeal the abortion amendment passed by a narrow voter-approved measure in November 2024. The previous amendment had legalized abortion, but the new pro-life amendment would reverse it while allowing exceptions for medical emergencies, fatal fetal anomalies, and cases of rape or incest in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
First Lady
Pro-life stalwarts view Kehoe’s involvement as unprecedented and invigorating.
Sam Lee, a pro-life lobbyist with over 40 years of experience, noted that he does not recall a first lady taking such a prominent role in ballot measures, especially those safeguarding the unborn.
Actions
The goals include early mobilization and collaboration with every willing anti-abortion group in the state. They will focus on educating voters about what Hafner called “one of the most consequential issues we will ever face in Missouri.”
