Did you know that Alton High School has some well-to-do graduates? Too often, we focus on those who stay local, but there are others who move from the area and make Alton proud. Here are just a few names of ones that have left our area and are moving to higher heights.
Woman Of The year
Missouri Supreme Court clerk Betsy Ledgerwood has been named the Woman of the Year. She has served as a clerk since January 2017 after joining the court in 2012. She rose through roles in government relations and legal counsel. In her current position, she oversees not only the Supreme Court’s internal operations but also plays a critical role across Missouri’s entire judiciary. Her current duties include personnel management and budgeting, as well as coordinating with other branches of government.
Ledgerwood grew up in Alton, which had a population of roughly 500. She knew early on she wanted a different path. She wanted to do anything that would get her to leave Alton. She began her college career at William Woods University before transferring to the University of Missouri.
Others
Alton has other graduates who are making their marks in the world. Daniel Reed is in the top management of the National Organ Donation Organization. His brother John is the top executive of the Airport in Rochester, Minnesota, owned by Mayo Clinic.
Our schools have produced some extremely talented and intelligent people who are making a difference in this world. We need to focus on our successes and all the positives of Alton, Missouri. How will this year’s graduates make us proud?
