The Alton Chamber of Commerce met on August 27, 2026, for their monthly meeting. Some of the topics discussed were membership letters, the pocket park, and the Walnut Festival.

Memberships

If you have not received a membership form from the Chamber, don’t worry! They are working on sending out the membership letters.

Pocket Park

Some Chamber members talked to the county, and although the county wouldn’t help, the commissioners offered to personally help the Chamber with the pocket park in various ways. It was also suggested that the pocket park be done in phases such as doing a ramp and grass first, then a pavilion, and so on (not in that order).

Town Hall

Another topic discussed was holding a town hall inviting the community to learn more about Chamber memberships, get involved with the Chamber, and speak on a topic at a meeting.

Walnut Festival

One band has been secured and confirmations for the other bands are being worked on. It was suggested that the Chamber look into having a sign over Highway 19 advertising the Walnut Festival. It was also decided that instead of having a Walnut Idol contest, it would be a talent contest.

The Chamber is also working on getting four porta potties for the festival. For the Friday night festivities, it was decided to have a Tom Clary Cruise-In in honor of Tom Clary. The fun run and bike/trike races are still being decided.
