Rep. Elliott on Deer Culling and Sales Tax Break

Representative Elliott has been busy. While campaigning for reelection, he also reported on what is happening at the Capitol. It has been a busy year figuring out proper wording for new laws, passing some on to the people to decide. Others are newsworthy.

Missouri And World Cup

It was a fantastic time watching all of the teams and their fans through the World Cup Series. We welcomed them to our country and our state. Kansas City, Missouri, held six of the games. We got to show off our famous barbecue, among other favorites. The event showcased Missouri’s workforce, infrastructure, tourism, and economic opportunities on an international level. The successful effort demonstrated Missouri’s ability to host major events and attract future tourism and investments.

Deer Culling Program

The MDC announced that it will not conduct targeted deer removals this year. However, many local residents did receive a survey from MDC asking their opinions on buck-then-doe or doe-then-buck harvesting. If you get the questionnaire, we recommend you return it. MDC will continue monitoring the CWD areas. They are working closely with landowners, hunters, and conservation partners.

Back-To-School Sales Tax Holiday

This tax-free holiday ran from August 7-9. It is a huge success for sellers, parents, and students. Missouri does not require proof of residency to participate.

Currently, the Missouri legislature is on break.
