Governor Kehoe encourages Missourians to remember the sacrifices of those lost and the events surrounding 9/11/2001. The dome is in our state’s capital, Jefferson City. This day is referred to as Patriot Day.
Today marks 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. As Missouri joins the rest of the nation in remembering the tragic events of that day, Kehoe has ordered the Missouri State Capitol dome to shine red, white, and blue from sunset tonight through sunrise on Saturday. This serves as a reminder of a promise America made that day—and one we must continue to keep: Never forget.
The lighting is to honor the victims, survivors, and first responders of 9/11.
For those wanting more of a remembrance, the Missouri State Capitol is hosting the massive Tunnel to Towers Never Forget Mobile Exhibit along South Capitol Drive. It features authentic Ground Zero artifacts and is guided by retired NYC firefighters. A grand commemoration ceremony begins at 5:00 PM on Sunday, September 13, featuring static displays of first-responder vehicles and a formal reading of all 2,977 victims’ names.
