Do you love your pet? And you want to show him off in clothes and stuff? Well, this day is right for you. Tuesday, January 14, is National Dress Up Your Pet Day.

Costumes

You can dress up your pet, whether it’s a dog, cat, snake, mouse, or even a spider. You can dress them up any way you want to! But just remember that if (1) your pet doesn’t like dressing up, let him sit this holiday out, (2) make sure the costume fits. (3) Many pets like to chew stuff. Dogs are no exception. To avoid this don’t use loose dangling stuff. You can have from a tie to a full-blown cowboy, or cowgirl, outfit. Your pooch can have on bows, decorative collars, bandanas, hats, shirts, pants, and anything you can think of. Maybe even have your pet pick out something to wear.

History

This had to have started somewhere. Well, it did. Celebrity pet lifestyle expert and animal behaviorist Colleen Paige started this fun howl-iday in 2009. It celebrates your pet and supports the pet fashion community. Colleen Paige encouraged pet owners to spend time and have fun with their critters. Dress them up in cute, safe, and comfortable outfits and costumes. You won’t be alone when you dress up your pet; others will be doing it too.
