Alton, Mo. – The Outback Greenhouse is closing its doors for another season. This locally owned business thrives in the spring when patrons look for help in planting flowers and shrubs.

Local Shop

In the Outback Greenhouse, locals can buy tender seedlings of vegetables and flowers. There is also a range of customized hanging baskets available.

All of these products are grown and assembled locally. Kenneth and Deb Tackitt have run this nursery for many years, growing it into what it is today.

But the nursery cannot stay open forever. It closes at the end of spring when most people have their planting done. Outback Greenhouse plans on shutting down this weekend, or sooner as supplies last.

People want to spend time in nature despite the Covid concerns. Growing things gives a sense of belonging while at the same time offering peace. The greenhouse continued to operate unabated. The weather this spring was also not a hindrance. Customers visited us a number of times to make their planting dreams come true.

What Is For Sale?

As the planting season has come to an end, the variety options are also limited. Despite the fact that there are still many types of peppers and tomatoes available, the variety is smaller than it was a month ago. There are still squash plants, vegetables, hanging baskets, and other flowers and ornaments available while supplies last.
