Alton, Mo. – Primary elections are coming up in August in Missouri. As we look forward to casting our ballots, most people want to be informed on who is running for which office and if they are qualified. The Oregon County Republican Committee held a meet-and-greet with the candidates on Saturday. Although not every candidate running for office was present, many were.
State Offices
Incumbent Keith Elliott was present. He is running for state representative of District 153. He answered questions. He spoke about how much is done in Jefferson City, and the news does not make its way down to Oregon County.
County Offices
Several people running for county offices were present.
Judge
Two people running for associate circuit judge were present. Judge Harvey Allen was there. And Justin Nelson is running against him; he was not there.
Presiding Commissioner
David Stubblefield is running again for presiding commissioner. Jeffery Peace is running against him, and he was present.
County Clerk
Babe Reese is running for county clerk. She was there and spoke.
Clerk Of Circuit Court
The two people running for clerk of the circuit court were there: Amanda Osborn and Crystal Howell.
Recorder of Deeds
Dawn Holman is running for recorder of deeds.
County Treasurer
It will be a tough race for the county treasurer. Three people are running for the office: LaJuana Hollis, Melissa Smith, and Wes Buckner.
Collection Of Revenue
The two people running the revenue collection were there: Donna Morrison and Sandy Wheeler.
Food
Before most people started talking, there was ample food for everyone.
