Area Christmas Parades Happening This Weekend

Alton, Mo. – With Thanksgiving behind us, we look forward to Christmas. With that comes area parades. While December is filling up with various Christmas activities, this weekend features two parades: Alton’s and Willow Spring’s.

Alton

Alton is having its Christmas parade on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The theme is Christmas Movie Magic. Anyone may enter a float or entry at no cost. The Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas program begins at 4:00 p.m. on the courthouse lawn. The parade lineup begins at 5:00 p.m. The lineup is at the school parking lot. Float judging begins at 5:30, and the parade starts at 6:00 p.m. Near the post office is a no-strobe zone.

Light Contest

After the parade, the chamber will have a Christmas lights judging contest for residences and businesses. Additionally, Joella’s Beauty Collection is offering photos with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus. The photos are available from 6-9 p.m. The Night on the Town will follow the parade, with businesses open later hours to accommodate parade-goers.

Willow Springs

If you are looking for all-day events, you may consider Willow Springs. Willow Springs will also host their Christmas parade on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Its theme is “Christmas at the Movies.” The Willow Sprongs organizes its parade. The lineup for the parade begins at 5:00 p.m.

Food

All day on December 2, Willow has all-day events that Saturday. Beginning with breakfast with Santa, this $5 meal is between 8-10 a.m. It is at the Lions Clubhouse. One can get a photo with Santa. Next, is a cookie decorating party. This is between 10-2. This is at the Ozarks Sweetheart Bakeshop. For $10, one child gets four cookies, decorations, and cocoa.

Movies?

Wait! There’s more!! The Historic Theater will show two vintage Christmas movies between 12-2. Along with that, you get free popcorn and free admission.

Gingerbread Contest

How about gingerbreads? Willow Springs is hosting s gingerbread house decorating contest. They have prizes for various age groups. The Chamber is encouraging carolers after the parade.

Southern Kels is passing out the hot cocoa and a free ornament to each child.
