Thayer Bobcats Basketball Team Falls To Jonesboro Hurricanes

The Thayer Bobcats basketball team went up against the Jonesboro Hurricanes on December 28, 2023, in Highland, Arkansas, in the Bad Boy/Ronnie Brogdon Invitational semifinals.

A Tight Game

The Hurricanes got a head start on the Bobcats early on with an early 4-point lead. Aidan Burns (#12 for Bobcats) got the first points on the board for the Bobcats. With 1:25 left in the first quarter, Cooper Clark (#50 for Bobcats) tied up the score 8-8. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 10-10.

Hurricanes Lead

The game was still close in the second quarter. Both teams made a lot of good steals. Aidan Burns on one play, made a three-pointer, stole the ball from the Hurricanes, and went back to the basket to make a two-pointer. The score at halftime was 29-23, with the Hurricanes leading.

Lengthening Lead

In the third quarter, both teams made back-to-back dunks; the Hurricanes made one from their #3, and the Bobcats made one from Devin Harrington (#3 for Bobcats). The score at the end of the third quarter was 45-38, with the Hurricanes still in the lead. Late in the fourth quarter, the Hurricanes were leading by 16 points, which was the longest lead of the game. The Bobcats battled back to make it only a 10-point lead. Jonesboro won 60-50. Thayer advances on to the third place game today at 4:15 pm. [1]
