Alton, Mo. – Alton, Missouri, received its first snowfall of the year on Friday, January 10, 2024. Some areas got over seven inches of snow.

Early Forecast

Early in the week, the weathermen were only calling for 1-3 inches of snow. As it got closer to Friday, the measurements went up to 3-6 inches and Oregon County was put into a winter storm warning.

Snow!

Late Thursday night, the snow started. In certain areas, the snow continued into late Friday afternoon with some places measuring over seven inches of snow.

Closures

On Friday after the snow hit, MODOT reported that most, if not all, major roads in southern/southeast Missouri were covered. As of Saturday, January 11th, most of the roads were clear to mostly clear.
