Alton, Mo. – Sho-Me Power, our wholesale energy provider, has scheduled substation system improvements for the West Plains and Alton substations. Separating between two days, customers can expect power outages early in the morning.
West Plains
On Wednesday, October 1, the West Plains substation will be down from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m. If you work in the area during this time or need to travel through it, please plan accordingly.
Alton
On Thursday, October 2, the Alton substation will be down from 1 a.m. to 3 a.m.This means no power. While most appliances are in standby mode, air conditioners and white noise fans will not operate. This is when most people are in their deepest sleep. Hopefully, they will not awake.
Notification
Members impacted by this overnight outage will receive notification through the SmartHub app if they are signed up, or a phone call/message if the number we have on file is correct.
Who Is Affected?
This will affect more than 2,000 members per substation. There is no need to call in a report that you have no power.
Why Now?
The work is scheduled at a time of night to have the least impact on most of the members. Improvements like these enable Sho-Me Power and Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperatives to continue providing their members with reliable electrical service.
