Alton, Mo. – With the coronavirus going on, movie theaters have been closed. The AMC Theater chain, which is the largest movie theater chain in the United States, reopened on Thursday, August 20, 2020. The tickets were 15 cents each per movie and they showcased old movies.

Theaters That Were Opened

The AMC Theater movie theater chain opened more than 100 theaters. Multiple cinemas in almost every state will be opening up. If you want to see the full list, go here.

Movies That Were Showcased

The movies that were showcased on August 20th was the following:

  • Inception
  • Black Panther
  • Back to the Future
  • Ghostbusters
  • Grease
  • Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back

The previously mentioned movies will still be playing after August 20th but with a ticket price of $5.

Films Going To Be Shown

The AMC movie theaters will also show some new movies in August and September. These movies will have regular admission prices which are: ages 2-12 cost $10.69, ages 13 and up cost $13.69, and ages 60+ cost $12.69. The movies are as follows:

  • Unhinged (August 21)
  • Train to Busan Presents: Peninsula (August 21)
  • Cut Throat City (August 21)
  • Words on Bathroom Walls (August 21)
  • Inception 10th Anniversary Event (August 21)
  • The New Mutants (August 28)
  • Personal History of David Copperfield (August 28)
  • Tenet (September 3)
  • Infidel (September 11)
  • The King’s Man (September 18)
  • War With Grandpa (September 18)

Changes For Viewer Safety

To help keep their movie goes safe, AMC announced some changes that will be made. The changes are,

  • Significant reductions in how many people can attend each showing
  • Seat blocking to allow social distancing between parties
  • Extra time between showings to allow for enhanced cleaning procedures
  • Mandatory mask wearing for all guests and employees
  • New hand sanitizing stations throughout the theater

Concession Sales

The food and beverage treats will be $5 through the end of October for all movie goes to eat and enjoy.
