Another week has gone by in the legislative session. United States Representative Jason Smith from Missouri has been busy voting on pieces of legislation.

HR 5692

House Bill 5692 is called Ukraine Security Assistance and Oversight Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024. This act gives appropriations to the Department of Defense to help Ukraine. While Smith voted against it, the bill did pass.

HR 4367

HR 4367 deals with appropriations as well. As Smith’s newsletter puts it, “Appropriates $62.8B in net base appropriations for DHS for FY2024, $496M to hire an additional 1,796 Border Patrol Agents, increases in ICE detention beds, $2.1B to construct the border wall, prohibits labeling a U.S. persons’ communications as mis-, dis-, or mal-information.” The bill passed, with Smith voting for it.

HR 4368

Some of the things House Bill 4368 does is that it cuts wasteful spending and prevents the purchase of agricultural land by foreign adversaries. HR 4368 passed, with Jason Smith voting for it.

HR 4665

HR 4665 also has to deal with appropriations. This bill provides $3.3 billion in foreign military financing program to Israel and fully funds the U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), among other things. HR 4665 also passed, with Jason Smith voting for it.
