The Thayer Bobcats basketball team traveled to Westwego, Louisiana, for the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic on January 4, 2024, to battle the Archbishop Hannan Hawks. The Bobcats lost 53-46.

First Half

In the first quarter, both teams held each other back, not letting the other score too many points. The score at the end of the first quarter was 9-6, with the Hawks leading. With around five minutes in the half, the game was all tied up. Thayer had their first lead with 3:37 left. The Hawks came back, though, and had the lead at halftime which was 22-15.

Second Half

The Hawks continued to lengthen their lead in the third quarter. The Hawks’ defense did a good job in holding the Bobcats to only four points in the third quarter. In the final quarter, Thayer began to get their rhythm and started to make a comeback. Multiple three-pointers were made by both Rowan Spencer (#2 for Bobcats) and Aidan Burns (#12 for Bobcats). Although the Bobcats tried their best to get the lead, they could not do so. The final score was 53-46, with the Hawks winning. Thayer will play for consolation tonight at 8:30 pm.
