The Farmer’s Daughter Mercantile in Thayer, Missouri, is hosting a beginner’s sourdough class on August 23, 2025, at the store. [1]
Time
The class will be Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 10:30 until noon.
Cost
The cost is $35 per person. Spaces will fill up fast so make sure to register quickly.
The Instructor
Ashley Suggs will be teaching the class. She moved to Alton from Texas in 2022 with her husband and two children. She first started experimenting with sourdough in 2019 and has continued expanding her knowledge about sourdough.
The Class
In the class, she will demonstrate the basic artisan loaf recipe. She will touch on what to look for when incorporating the dough, how to do the stretch and fold technique, and shaping of the bread, among other things. [2] Each attendee will get their own starter and some flour for its first feeding.
