The 4th of July is almost upon us. Local towns across the county have planned their Independence Day events to celebrate our nation’s independence.
Alton
Starting off is Alton’s fireworks on July 3rd at Piney Creek Park on Highway 160. Gates will open at 5 pm with activities starting at 6 pm. [1] Fireworks will be at dark. There will be bouncy houses, food vendors, politicians, and other vendors selling items. There is no cost.
Thomasville
Thomasville is having their Independence Day celebrations on Saturday, July 4th in Thomasville. Gates will open at 5 pm; concessions will open at 6 pm; and the Ozarks Family Rodeo will start at 7 pm. The cost to go is $6 per person with kids 4 and under free. The annual quilt raffle will also be going on with tickets being $3 each or 2 for $5. [2]
Mammoth Spring
Mammoth Spring will be having activities to honor our nation’s 250th Anniversary on July 4th. From 10 am to noon, there will be games for all ages. From noon to 1 pm, there will be free hot dogs and drinks. [3] A raffle drawing for $5,000 will also be held at 1:00 pm.
Thayer
Thayer’s Independence Day celebrations will also be on July 4th. Live music will begin at 5 pm. Following that will be skydivers, AirEvac, and the annual giveaway. [4] Fireworks will be at dark. There will be food vendors, politicians, free watermelon, kids games, and much more! There is no cost. All the festivities will be at the Thayer High School football field.
Community Potluck
The Alton 250 Community Potluck will be on Sunday, July 5th between 1-4 pm on the square in Alton. [5] Everyone from the county, visitors, and even people from other counties are invited to come celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday. Attendees are encouraged to bring something to eat, but that’s not required. Veterans will be honored at the potluck. You can visit the website here.
