Thayer, Mo. – Despite the thunder and rain in the area, Thayer could not have asked for a better evening of fireworks. Clouds softened the heat and encouraged locals to come out and celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday.  Food, candidates, music, and sky divers were part of the evening’s drama.

Start

Earlier in the day, a rain shower passed through. By evening, thunder remained, but no precipitation fell. Three skydivers began the unusual show that night. Waving a flag and the red, white, and blue, they each floated safely to the Thayer High School football field.

Meanwhile, attendees found the food and drink booths, met and talked with political candidates, and let their children burn energy in the bounce houses. Tempting aromas filled the air as one walked by, greeting friends and other patriots.

Crowds

Despite Thomasville holding its Independence Day celebration that same evening, Thayer residents came out to show their support for America’s 250th birthday.

The Bid Show

As the sun set, local fireworks began shooting off. One wondered when the big ones would burst. In the dark, the fireworks show began. Loud cannon booms rocked the ground while colorful displays of lights filled the skies. Locals exclaimed over which was their favorite: cannons, several short bursts, or single enormous ones. After a quick but entrancing finale, attendees returned to their vehicles to travel home.
