Prepare for an extraordinary adventure into the mysteries of the cosmos! The Missouri Eclipse Task Force invites you to join them for the Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo, a captivating two-day event that will immerse you in the magic of solar eclipses. Mark your calendars for a weekend of discovery, education, and celestial excitement on Friday, July 21st, and Saturday, July 22nd, in Cape Girardeau, MO. 

Friday Evening

On Friday night, July 21st, the Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo will “kickoff” with a captivating panel discussion titled “Get Ready for the 2023 and 2024 Solar Eclipses.” They have gathered a stellar lineup of experts to guide you through the wonders of eclipses. Their esteemed panelists include a representative from NASA, the renowned “Mr. Eclipse” himself, Fred Espenak, a representative from the Missouri Department of Tourism, and a distinguished weather expert. From 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm, join them on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University (University Center Ballroom 388 Henderson Ave Cape Girardeau) as they unravel the secrets of these celestial phenomena. Doors open at 6:00 pm, and seats are limited. Can’t attend in person? No worries! We will also provide a virtual participation option, ensuring everyone can participate in this enlightening experience. They will embed the broadcast into this university webpage. No additional access will be needed to watch live.

Saturday

The excitement continues Saturday, July 22nd, with the main event—the all-day Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo. Prepare to be awestruck as you step into the magnificent 30,000+ square foot Show Me Center, located on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. This sprawling venue will be transformed into a celestial wonderland, featuring a multitude of exhibits, interactive educational stations, and two theaters hosting expert speakers who will delve into 
the mysteries of the universe. 
 
Discover the latest advancements in solar science, engage with hands-on activities, and learn about the history and significance of eclipses. Weather permitting, you’ll have the opportunity to experience the magnificence of solar viewing, allowing you to witness the sun’s dance with the moon firsthand. And don’t forget the door prizes, adding an extra element of excitement to this unforgettable event. 
 
We are thrilled to announce that they have just added a distinguished speaker to our lineup. Joining them at the Missouri Solar Eclipse Expo is Lori Bajorek, President, and CEO of the National Esports Association (NEA). Lori Bajorek is a visionary leader who has spearheaded the integration of esports in education, enhancing K-12 learning and promoting academic success. Recognized as an honoree of the 2022 Microsoft Legacy Project, Lori’s contributions to the field have garnered international acclaim.
