Friends and relatives of deceased Alyssa Bair promoted an event that generated around $12,000 at Thayer High School, Saturday, July 25, to help the Bair family. Community business donations and public participation made the event a success.

Tanzi Lusk Got An Idea

The fundraiser and benefit auction along with a “Car/Truck/Motorcycle Show and Cruise” idea was sparked by Tanzi Lusk, a relative of Alyssa Bair. She took her idea and reached out for help with it, networking with the right people to help make the show and cruise a success. Local talent and businesses teamed up to donate to the cause and Thayer Mayor, Ken Cotham, conducted the auction.

According to AreaWideNews.com, Lusk was moved by the fatal accident and “knew she had to do something” so she made calls to people who might be able to help. Tracy Jones, Solomon Cornelius, Mayor Cotham were among those she reached out to.

Friends & Business Get To Work

Solomon Cornelius publicized the event and through his contacts the word spread. Jones donated his time and skills along with friend Sandra Wigginton to “allow a very late request for 200 Event T-Shirts to be available for the Benefit.” Regina Stone and Chris Cornelius called the individuals to invite them to the cruise-in.

The Show Was A Success

There were 76 cars and motorcycles registered for the event. Adam Davis with the Mammoth Spring Chamber of Commerce who provided a list of past participants of their annual car show [1].

Cornelius pointed out before the event that “anything that rolls is fair game to show.” After the car/truck/motorcycle/anything that rolls show, a benefit auction followed at 6 pm. The whole event was topped off with a “cruise” around and between the Thayer/Mammoth Spring area in tribute to Alyssa Bair.

The event helped raise approximately $12,000 for Alyssa’s family.
