Alton, Mo. – Does your child have an interest in cooking? Or does he need to know the basics of cooking? Alton is here to guide your child in cooking. The extension office is hosting a six-week course to encourage your child to cook and eat well. The class is free, but it is open only to those going into grades 3 and 4.
What is this?
The University of Missouri Extension invites your 3rd- and 4th-graders to step into the culinary world with Kids in the Kitchen (Level A)! This exciting, 6-class series is designed to give young chefs the confidence they need in the kitchen while teaching them healthy habits that last a lifetime. Besides all of that, they get to eat the delicious, nutritious foods they learn to prepare!
When Is This?
The class begins this Thursday, July 16, 2026. There are six consecutive classes on the same weekday at the same time. Each class begins at 1:00 pm.
Where Will This Be?
The classes take place at the Oregon County Extension Office in the county courthouse.
Who Can Attend?
This class is open to all children going into grades three and four.
Cost?
There is no cost to attend.
Who Is Teaching?
Hannah Smith, Oregon County Nutrition Program Associate (NPA), is the instructor.
