Alton, Mo. – September comes as a busy precursor to the holidays. While many are not directly thinking of Christmas and Thanksgiving, the events leading toward those large family gatherings are in everyone’s mind.

September

September brought different events. The AltonMo.com field team went to the Thayer Bobcats versus Liberty Eagles game on the 9th. The Alton Fire Department held a pancake breakfast for all ages. Myrtle had their annual Yester-daze event after two years of not having it. September 30th is the Run the Town for the Gold 5K/1 Mile Walk/Run on the square. Registration begins at 5:30 pm.

October

The main event is October is, of course, the Black Gold Walnut Festival. It starts at 9:00 am on October 1st and goes until 3:30 pm. There will be a variety of vendors and activities. A St. Jude Benefit Truck Pull will happen on October 1st at 101 Rodeo Drive in Thayer starting at 5:00 pm. The VFW in Alton is having a yard sale October 7th and 8th between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Another festival happening is Thayer’s on October 8th between 4:00-8:30 pm. Also happening until the end of the year is the senior coat drive for seniors around the area.
